Troubleshooting team and advisor invitations

User Management Advisor Panel

When you're invited to NetNada โ€” as a team member joining your organisation, or as an advisor connecting to a client โ€” the invitation email contains a secure link that ties your new account to the right workspace. Most invitations work first time, but when one doesn't, the fix is usually quick. This article walks through the common problems for both the person accepting the invitation and the admin who sent it.

In this article, you'll learn how to:

  • Get a new link when your invitation has expired
  • Sign in when an invitation has already been accepted
  • Fix links that aren't recognised or point to the wrong organisation
  • Choose the right workspace when accepting an advisor invitation
  • Resolve problems when generating invitation links as an admin
If you already invited someone and they haven't received anything, ask them to check their spam or junk folder first โ€” invitation emails occasionally land there.

Fix an expired invitation

Invitation links are valid for a limited time as a security measure. If the page tells you the invitation has expired, the link can't be revived โ€” you need a new one.

1

Contact the person who invited you

Ask the admin (or, for advisor invitations, the sender) to send a fresh invitation. Reissuing takes them under a minute.
2

Open the newest email

Once a new invitation is sent, use the link in the most recent email. Older links won't work even if they haven't visibly expired.
3

Accept promptly

Accept the new invitation as soon as it arrives so it doesn't expire again while sitting in your inbox.

Handle an already-accepted invitation

If the page says the invitation has already been used, someone โ€” probably you โ€” has already accepted it. Each invitation works once. Simply go to the NetNada sign-in page and sign in with the email address the invitation was sent to. If you can't remember setting a password, use the password reset option on the sign-in page.

If you're certain you never accepted it, contact the admin who invited you โ€” they can check who joined and send you a fresh invitation if needed.

Fix a link that isn't recognised

If the page says the invitation is not valid, the link itself is usually the culprit. Email programs sometimes wrap long links across two lines, so clicking only carries part of it through.

  • Copy the full link โ€” select the entire link in the email, copy it, and paste it into your browser's address bar rather than clicking it
  • Check for truncation โ€” make sure nothing was cut off at the end and no spaces crept in when pasting
  • Ask for a resend โ€” if the link still isn't recognised, the invitation may have been withdrawn; ask the admin to send a new one

Fix an invitation meant for a different organisation

If you open an invitation and the page shows an organisation you don't recognise โ€” or you're signed in to a different account than the one invited โ€” there are two clean fixes:

  • Ask for a new invitation to the correct email โ€” if the invitation went to the wrong address (for example, a personal address instead of your work one), ask the admin to reissue it to the right email
  • Sign out first, then open the link โ€” if you have multiple accounts, sign out of NetNada before clicking the invitation link so you can accept it with the intended account

Accepting an advisor invitation

Advisor invitations work slightly differently from team invitations, because an advisor relationship connects two organisations. Depending on the direction of the invitation, you may be asked to make a choice before accepting:

  • If a client invited you as their advisor โ€” sign in (or register), accept, and the client appears in your advisor panel
  • If an advisor requested access to your data โ€” you'll be asked which of your workspaces to grant them access to; if you manage several, pick carefully, as the advisor will see that workspace's data
  • You'll return to the invitation after signing in โ€” the page brings you back to complete the acceptance, so don't worry if you're briefly redirected to sign in first
When granting an advisor access, double-check the workspace you select before accepting. Access can be removed later, but it's best to grant only what's intended from the start.

For admins: when generating a link fails

If you're the one sending invitations and the link fails to generate or send:

1

Check the email spelling

The most common cause is a typo in the invitee's email address. Verify it character by character before retrying โ€” a misspelt address sends the invitation into the void.
2

Retry the invitation

Generation failures are often temporary. Wait a moment and send the invitation again.
3

Check whether they're already a member

If the person already has access to your organisation, a new invitation isn't needed โ€” ask them to sign in instead.

FAQ

How long is an invitation link valid?
Invitation links expire after a limited period for security. If someone hasn't accepted within a few days of being invited, plan to resend.
Can I resend an invitation to the same person?
Yes. Sending a fresh invitation replaces the old one โ€” the newest link is the one that works, and older links stop being valid.
Can I accept an invitation with a different email address than it was sent to?
No โ€” the invitation is tied to the address it was sent to. If you'd rather use another address, ask the admin to reissue the invitation to that email.
What's the difference between a team member and an advisor?
A team member belongs to your organisation and works inside it. An advisor is an external consultant who is granted access to your workspace from their own account, and may advise several client organisations. See inviting team members and advisors for the full picture.
I accepted an advisor invitation โ€” where do I find my client?
After accepting, your new client appears in your advisor panel. You may land in your own workspace first โ€” open the advisor panel to switch across.
The invitation works but I can't sign in afterwards โ€” what now?
That's a sign-in problem rather than an invitation problem. See troubleshooting sign-in and access problems for password resets and access errors.
