Data Uploader Task Manager
The Carbon Data Uploader converts raw business records into emissions reports through a six-step AI-assisted workflow. Access it via the Emissions Task Manager or Measure > Data Templates > Upload.
Prerequisites
Before starting an upload, you need three things:
- A Data File โ A PDF, Excel (.xlsx), or CSV file containing your activity or spend data
- Business Unit / Node โ Know which facility or entity this data relates to
- Active Reporting Cycle โ Confirm the data falls within an active reporting period
The Six-Step Workflow
1
Location Selection
Designate an organisational entity and emissions category (e.g., Business Travel Flights) through dropdown menus.
2
Calculation Method
Choose between Activity Based for specific measurements (like flight classes) or Spend Data when only financial records are available.
3
File Upload & Sheet Selection
Drag-and-drop or browse files. For multi-tab Excel files, select the specific sheet containing your records and confirm via the preview.
4
Column Mapping
The system auto-maps headers like "Date" and "Airline," with manual dropdown corrections available. Ensure all fields marked with a red Required tag are mapped before proceeding.
5
Data Validation
A sample check ensures format compliance and flags errors like incorrect date formatting before import.
6
Review & Import
Confirm all required fields are mapped (displayed as ratios like 5/5), then click Start Import.
Post-Import Results
After import, you'll receive a Transaction ID and see a progress bar tracking calculation completion. Task status updates automatically, and files appear in Identify > Files and Submissions.
Always prioritise Activity Data (e.g., litres of fuel) over Spend Data ($ spent) whenever possible, as it provides a much more accurate reflection of your actual emissions.
NetNada uses DD/MM/YYYY date format by default.
Troubleshooting
Unmapped required fields
Ensure all fields marked as Required are mapped to a column in your spreadsheet. Check that column headers match expected field names.
Validation failures
Format errors are the most common cause. Check date formats (DD/MM/YYYY), number formatting, and ensure no blank rows in your data.
Blank preview after sheet selection
You may have selected the wrong sheet in a multi-tab Excel file. Go back and select the correct sheet containing your data.
