Last updated: 10 April 2026

Task Manager Data Uploader OCR

The single task view is where the actual data collection happens. Each task has instructions, submission options, a data trail, and collaboration tools. Open any task from the Task Manager by clicking View Detail.

What You'll See Inside a Task

Every task โ€” regardless of GHG category โ€” follows the same layout:

  • Inventory and period โ€” Which emissions boundary and reporting period this task belongs to
  • Task details โ€” The assigned owner, due date, status, node, and category
  • Brief instructions โ€” Guidance on what data is needed for this category
  • Submitted data table โ€” All files uploaded to this task, with status, owner, upload date, start/end dates, and a download link
  • Available submission methods โ€” How you can get data into this task (varies by category)
  • FAQ โ€” Common questions specific to this GHG category
  • Comments โ€” A collaboration section for team discussion

Submission Methods by Category

Different GHG categories support different ways to submit data:

MethodHow it worksAvailable for
Spreadsheet uploadUpload an Excel or CSV file with rows of data. NetNada maps your columns using AI.All categories (purchased goods and services, capital goods, business travel, etc.)
Invoice drag-and-dropDrag and drop PDF invoices. NetNada reads them using OCR and extracts the data automatically.Electricity, waste, and other invoice-based categories
Built-in calculatorEnter data directly using NetNada's calculators (no file needed).Waste, employee commuting

Downloading Templates

If you're not sure what format the data should be in, download a template directly from the task. The template shows the required fields and optional fields for that category. Hover over the question mark icon next to each field for a description.

For example, the purchased goods and services template includes: dates, spend amount, currency, supplier name, purchase category description, transaction ID, account code, account name, and account type.

Uploading Data

To upload data, the task must be in an open status (not completed). If it's completed, click Reopen first.

1

Click the upload button

The node and category are pre-selected because you're inside a task.
2

Follow the upload workflow

This launches the Carbon Data Uploader with the same six-step process: file selection, tab choice, column mapping, validation, and import.
3

Return to the task

After import, the file appears in the task's submitted data table. Click the file name to download it or view its records.

Managing Task Status

ActionWhen to use
Mark as ready for reviewData has been uploaded but needs someone else to verify it before closing
Mark as completeAll data has been uploaded and verified โ€” the task is done
ReopenA completed task needs additional data or corrections. This notifies the team that there's a gap.
Mark as skippedThe task is not applicable to your organisation for this period

Comments and Collaboration

The comments section at the bottom of each task allows team members to:

  • Leave notes about data sources or assumptions
  • Tag colleagues to request specific information
  • Flag data gaps or quality issues
  • Discuss methodology decisions for audit documentation

FAQ

Can I upload multiple files to the same task?
Yes. Each file appears as a separate row in the submitted data table. You might upload Q1 and Q2 separately, or split data by source.
What happens when I reopen a completed task?
The status changes back to In Progress. Existing uploaded data is preserved. This is useful when you discover a data gap or receive corrected figures.
Can I change which category a task belongs to?
Tasks are generated from your emissions boundary and cannot be recategorised individually. If a task is in the wrong category, adjust your boundary configuration and regenerate tasks.
Who can see the comments?
All users with access to the account can see comments on any task. Comments are part of the audit trail.
