Getting started with NetNada: Your first steps

Last updated: 10 April 2026

Onboarding Home Screen Quick Actions

Welcome to NetNada. This article walks you through your first steps โ€” from completing the setup checklist to understanding the platform's main sections. By the end, you'll know where everything is and what to do first.

The Home Screen

When you log in, the home screen gives you a snapshot of where things stand and quick access to common actions.

You'll see:

  • Setup checklist โ€” If you're new, follow this flow to configure your account step by step.
  • Emissions measurement snapshot โ€” A summary of your tasks: how many are in progress, completed, or not started.
  • Disclosure status โ€” Your progress on frameworks like AASB S1 and AASB S2.
  • Quick actions โ€” Shortcuts to common tasks (upload expense data, import modelled emissions, invite team members, schedule a support call, browse documentation).
  • Learning resources โ€” Links to the Sustainability Academy, carbon reporting guides, and supply chain engagement resources.

The Setup Checklist

The setup checklist guides you through the essential configuration steps. Complete them in order for the smoothest experience.

1

Set up your organisation profile

Verify your organisation name, industry, and benchmarking preferences. This allows NetNada to compare your performance against peers. Navigate to the checklist and click Organisation Profile.
2

Invite key stakeholders

Add the people who need to be involved โ€” your CFO, operations lead, external consultant, or anyone else who will track progress, upload data, or review reports. See How to invite team members and external advisors.
3

Watch the platform overview video

A short video that walks through NetNada's main features. Recommended for all new users.
4

Complete a sustainability course

NetNada offers courses through the Sustainability Academy. Completing a course provides evidence of upskilling โ€” valuable for governance and mandatory climate disclosure requirements.
5

Review the methodology

Understand how NetNada calculates emissions, which databases it uses, and the reasoning behind its approach. This document is useful to share with your auditor.

Understanding the Side Menu

The side menu is organised to follow the typical carbon accounting workflow from top to bottom:

SectionWhat it's for
HomeDashboard overview, setup checklist, quick actions
AI (Netty)Chat with NetNada's AI assistant about your data or sustainability topics
Frameworks & ReportsDisclosure tracking (AASB S1, AASB S2), report builder, gap analysis
IdentifyEmissions boundaries, reporting periods, files and submissions
MeasureTask manager, data templates, data uploads, calculators
AnalyseDashboards (emissions, electricity, renewables, waste), audit page, supply chain, projections
You can follow the side menu from top to bottom as a workflow: identify what you need to measure, collect and upload the data, then analyse and report on the results.

Recommended First Steps

After completing the setup checklist, here's the recommended order for getting your first carbon inventory done:

  1. Set up your organisational structure โ€” Add your facilities, offices, and locations as nodes. See Understanding nodes.
  2. Define your emissions boundary โ€” Decide what's included in your measurement across Scope 1, 2, and 3. See How to set up your emissions boundary.
  3. Create a reporting period โ€” Set the time window for your inventory. See How to create and manage reporting periods.
  4. Generate tasks โ€” Combine your boundary and reporting period to generate measurement tasks. See How to manage your emissions tasks.
  5. Upload your data โ€” Use the task manager or data templates to bring in your data. See How to upload emissions data.
  6. Review and analyse โ€” Check your dashboards and audit page, then generate a report.

Quick Actions

The home screen includes shortcuts for common tasks:

  • Upload expense data โ€” Quickly bring in spend-based data to start measuring purchased goods and services.
  • Modelling โ€” Import pre-calculated emissions from external sources like consultant reports.
  • Invite team members โ€” Generate an invite link for colleagues or external advisors.
  • Schedule a call โ€” Book a support session directly from the platform.
  • Browse documentation โ€” Access the full support hub without leaving NetNada.

FAQ

Do I need to complete the setup checklist before I can start uploading data?
No, but we strongly recommend it. Setting up your organisational structure and emissions boundary first ensures that tasks are generated correctly and data is linked to the right nodes and categories.
Can I skip the sustainability course?
Yes, it's optional. However, completing a course provides evidence of upskilling that is valuable for governance requirements under mandatory climate disclosure.
What if I'm a consultant setting up NetNada for a client?
The same workflow applies. Set up the client's organisation profile, add yourself and the client's team as users, and follow the recommended first steps. You can also use the Advisor Panel to manage multiple clients.
Where can I find the Netty AI assistant?
Netty is available as a floating chat icon on any page in NetNada, and as a full-page experience via AI in the side menu. See How to use Netty.
