How to share dashboards and boundaries with external links

Last updated: 18 August 2026

Dashboards Emissions Boundaries Sharing

Share links let you show your emissions data to people outside NetNada — a board member, client, auditor, or investor — without creating an account for them. You can share your GHG emissions dashboard from Dashboard > All Scopes, and any completed emissions boundary assessment from Identify > Emission Boundaries.

In this article, you'll learn how to:

  • Understand what a view-only link is and who can open it
  • Create and copy a share link for your dashboard
  • Share an emissions boundary assessment
  • Know what viewers can and cannot see or do
  • Remove access to a link you've already shared

What Is a View-Only Link?

A view-only link is a unique web address that displays a live, read-only view of your data. The person opening it does not need a NetNada account, does not sign in, and cannot make any changes to your data — they simply see the page in their browser, like opening a shared document.

Anyone who has the link can open it. Treat share links like any confidential document link — only send them to people you intend to see the data.

Share a Dashboard

The dashboard share link captures the filters you have applied at the moment you create it — so set up the exact view you want your audience to see first.

1

Open your dashboard

Navigate to Dashboard > All Scopes under the Carbon Accounting section of the sidebar.
2

Set your filters

Choose the entities and the date range you want to present. The link will open with these same filters applied.
3

Click Share

Find the Share button at the top right of the dashboard, next to the download option. The button briefly shows Generating... while the link is created.
4

Copy the link

The button is replaced by a text box containing the full web address. Click the copy icon next to it — you'll see a "Link copied to clipboard!" confirmation. Paste the link into an email or message to share it.

When someone opens the link, they see a banner reading Viewing a Shared Dashboard above a live version of your dashboard. Viewers can adjust the filters to explore the data — this only changes what they see on their screen, not your account.

Share an Emissions Boundary Assessment

An emissions boundary defines which parts of your organisation and which emission sources are included in your carbon inventory. Sharing the assessment gives external stakeholders a clear summary of what's in and out of scope.

1

Open your boundaries

Navigate to Identify > Emission Boundaries under the Carbon Accounting section of the sidebar.
2

Find the boundary to share

Each boundary appears as a card. Locate the Share button at the bottom left of the card, alongside View Report and Edit Assessment.
3

Generate and copy the link

Click Share, wait for the link to generate, then click the copy icon next to the web address that appears.
The Share button only appears once a boundary assessment has been started. A boundary that hasn't been started shows a Start Assessment button instead.

The shared boundary page presents a formal report: a boundary overview showing the included organisational nodes, status, and last updated date, followed by an operational boundary section listing the applicable and excluded sources for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.

What Viewers Can and Cannot Do

Revoking Access

There is currently no self-service option to revoke or disable a share link from within the platform. If you've shared a link and need it deactivated — for example, it was sent to the wrong person — contact the NetNada support team and we'll disable it for you.

FAQ

Does the person I share with need a NetNada account?
No. Share links are view-only web pages that open in any browser without signing in. This makes them ideal for board members, clients, or auditors who don't use NetNada.
Will the shared dashboard update as I add new data?
Yes. The link shows a live view of your data, so viewers see the current figures each time they open it — with the filters you applied when you created the link.
Can I share a specific filtered view, like one entity or one quarter?
Yes. Apply the filters you want before clicking Share — the link captures your current entity selection and date range, and opens with that view for everyone.
Can viewers change my data through the shared page?
No. The shared page is view-only. Any filter changes a viewer makes only affect what they see in their own browser — your data and your team's view are untouched.
Can I see a list of the links I've created?
Not currently — the platform doesn't show a list of previously created share links. If you're unsure what's been shared, contact the NetNada support team.

Troubleshooting

The boundary link shows "Could Not Load Report"
The link may be invalid, incomplete, or there may have been a temporary server issue. Check that the full link was copied and pasted correctly, then try again. If it still fails, generate a fresh link and re-send it.
The dashboard link shows a page-not-found error
The link is incomplete or invalid — this usually happens when part of the address was cut off in an email. Copy the link again from the dashboard and re-send the full address.
I can't find the Share button on a boundary
The Share option only appears after the boundary assessment has been started. If the card shows Start Assessment, complete at least the first step of the assessment first.
