Renewable Energy Dashboard

Showcase your clean energy investment impact. NetNada's Renewable Energy Dashboard tracks on-site solar and renewable generation, calculates avoided emissions, and monitors your transition to clean energy across all facilities.

How It Works

The Renewable Energy Dashboard provides comprehensive visibility into your on-site renewable assets. Track solar production, understand self-consumption versus grid export, and quantify the emissions avoided through your clean energy investments.

1

Register Renewable Assets

Add solar systems, battery storage, and other renewable assets through the Asset Registry. Specify system capacity (kW), battery storage (kWh), installation dates, and assign systems to specific facility nodes.

2

Upload Production Data

Import generation data from your solar monitoring system or inverter. The dashboard accepts production exports showing kWh generated, consumed on-site, and exported to grid.

3

View Generation Performance

Track year-to-date renewable energy production in kWh. The Monthly Solar Production chart breaks down generation by consumption type—what you used on-site versus what you exported to the grid.

4

Calculate Avoided Emissions

The system calculates CO₂ emissions avoided by generating clean energy instead of purchasing grid electricity. Tree-planting equivalents help communicate impact to non-technical stakeholders.

5

Monitor Renewable Contribution

Donut charts show your energy mix composition—what percentage comes from renewable generation versus grid electricity. Track your progress toward 100% renewable operations.

Why Use NetNada's Renewable Energy Dashboard

Quantify Clean Energy ROI

Show the environmental return on your solar investment. Avoided emissions calculations demonstrate that your renewable assets deliver measurable carbon benefits alongside energy cost savings.

Understand how much solar generation you use on-site versus export to grid. Higher self-consumption rates typically mean better financial and environmental returns on your solar investment.

Monitor Renewable Progress

See your renewable energy contribution percentage grow over time. Track progress toward targets like 50% or 100% renewable operations across your facilities.

Stakeholder Communication

Avoided emissions with tree-planting equivalents provide relatable metrics for annual reports, investor presentations, and customer communications about your sustainability journey.

Asset Performance Monitoring

Track individual solar system performance over time. Identify underperforming assets, seasonal variations, and opportunities for system expansion or maintenance.

Integrated Carbon Reporting

Avoided emissions feed into your overall climate reporting. The dashboard connects renewable generation to your broader carbon accounting in a single platform.

Who Needs Renewable Energy Dashboard

"We have 200kW of solar across three warehouses. The Renewable Energy Dashboard showed us we're avoiding 180 tCO₂e annually—equivalent to planting 3,000 trees. That's a story our customers understand and value."
Impact:
  • Quantified 180 tCO₂e avoided annually
  • Tree equivalent provides accessible communication metric
  • Supported customer sustainability questionnaire responses

"The self-consumption rate metric was eye-opening. We discovered we were exporting 60% of our solar to grid during weekdays when offices were empty. We've since adjusted HVAC schedules to better align with solar production."
Impact:
  • Identified 60% export rate as efficiency opportunity
  • Improved self-consumption from 40% to 65%
  • Better financial return from solar investment

"Tracking our renewable contribution percentage over time shows real progress. We went from 15% renewable in 2022 to 45% in 2024 after adding battery storage. The dashboard makes this progress visible to our board."
Impact:
  • Tracked renewable growth from 15% to 45%
  • Battery storage impact clearly visible
  • Board receives quarterly renewable progress updates

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Renewable Energy Dashboard

What renewable energy assets can I track?
The dashboard primarily tracks on-site solar PV systems and battery storage. Register assets in the Asset Registry with system capacity (kW), battery storage (kWh), installation date, and facility assignment. Additional renewable types (small wind, etc.) can be accommodated—contact support for configuration.
How are avoided emissions calculated?
Avoided emissions represent the CO₂ that would have been emitted if you'd purchased grid electricity instead of generating clean energy. The calculation uses your state's grid emission factor multiplied by kWh generated and consumed on-site (not exported). Export to grid typically doesn't count toward your avoided emissions.
What data format does the dashboard accept?
Upload production data from your solar monitoring system or inverter in CSV or Excel format. Required fields include date/time, kWh generated, kWh consumed, and kWh exported. Most solar monitoring platforms (SolarEdge, Enphase, Fronius) can export in compatible formats.
What's the difference between self-consumption and export?
Self-consumption is renewable energy you generate and use on-site immediately. Export is excess generation sent back to the grid. Higher self-consumption rates typically mean better financial returns (avoiding retail electricity prices) and clearer environmental benefit (definitely displacing your grid usage).
How do I track multiple solar systems?
Register each system separately in the Asset Registry, assigning each to its facility node. The dashboard aggregates across all systems for portfolio-wide metrics while enabling drill-down to individual system performance.
Do avoided emissions count toward my carbon footprint reduction?
Avoided emissions represent emissions you didn't generate—they're separate from your actual footprint but important for stakeholder communication. Your Scope 2 Market-Based emissions already reflect renewable energy use. Avoided emissions help communicate the counterfactual impact.
Can I track purchased renewable energy certificates (RECs)?
RECs for purchased electricity affect your Market-Based Scope 2 calculation in the Electricity Dashboard. The Renewable Energy Dashboard focuses on on-site generation. Both are important parts of your renewable energy story.
What are tree-planting equivalents?
Tree equivalents translate avoided emissions into relatable terms. We use the EPA standard that one tree absorbs approximately 21kg of CO₂ per year. This metric helps communicate impact to non-technical audiences in annual reports and sustainability communications.
