The best ESG reporting software in Australia for 2026

We scored 32 ESG and carbon platforms against the nine questions Australian sustainability managers ask when moving from spreadsheets to audit-ready ESG reporting, and ranked the 20 we could verify on every one from the vendors' own pages. NetNada ranks first with 86 out of 100; IBM Envizi is second on 78.75 and Carbonly third on 72.25.

Answer this with AI

NetNada publishes this page and ranks its own product. The rubric, the weights and a source for every score are below so you can check our work. NetNada is a carbon-first platform: on global framework mapping it scores below the ESG suites, and the page says so.

The verdict

NetNada scores 86. It carries AASB S2 four-pillar templates generated from live data, an NGER tool that produces OSCAR-format submissions on current NGA Factors, automated Scope 1–3 feeds with document extraction, evidence-linked audit trails that have been through Deloitte, Grant Thornton and RSM assurance, a free supplier portal with custom questionnaires, and roles, tasks and approvals for cross-team collection. It scores lower on global framework mapping, where IBM Envizi and Sweep carry TCFD, GRI, SASB and CSRD as templates, and it does not offer NPI reporting, where Greenbase does. IBM Envizi is second on 78.75, Carbonly third on 72.25 and Greenbase (Envago) fourth on 71.75. Twelve more platforms are scored where public sources allowed but not ranked.

When another platform is the better pick

  • Pick IBM Envizi if you report under ESRS, GRI, SASB, CDP and IFRS at once and want the most complete roles and approval model; it has no NGER submission tool and integrations are Expert Labs work. [source]
  • Pick Greenbase (Envago) if you are in mining, energy or utilities and need NGER lodgement, direct NPI online submission and an ESG databook from one system. [source]
  • Pick Sweep if you want 250+ indicators across AASB, IFRS, SASB, GRI, CSRD and SEC with supplier scorecards and the deepest decarbonisation modelling; it names no Australian factor source. [source]
  • Pick Carbonly if you are an ASX-listed NGER reporter who wants six named roles with period locking and sign-off, activity data from invoices and dockets, and an LCA module. [source]
  • Pick Diligent ESG if you already run Diligent Boards and want nine named roles, scheduled reports in six formats and GRI, SASB, CDP and GRESB certification. [source]
  • Pick Trace if you want a modular, cohort-based engagement with Trace specialists drafting the disclosure; its in-app roles and workflows are light. [source]
  • Pick BraveGen if you hold a large property portfolio and want utility capture with NABERS, GRESB and Green Star reporting alongside ASRS. [source]
  • Pick Clear Carbon if you need NPI reporting with energy, water and waste data from SCADA and meters in asset-intensive operations. [source]
  • Pick Microsoft Sustainability Manager or Salesforce Net Zero Cloud if your data already lives in that platform; both carry water and waste modules, but their ASRS templates are preview or absent. [source]
  • Pick Avarni if supplier surveys that already ask net-zero and modern slavery status matter and you will write the disclosure narrative yourself. [source]

What we didn't score. Price isn't scored, because only five of 32 vendors publish one; it is listed above instead. Building ratings and product footprints (NABERS, Green Star, LEED, EPD/LCA) isn't scored, because the overview does not ask for them; IBM, BraveGen and NetNada document them and they appear in the better-pick notes. Double materiality tooling isn't scored, because only Greenbase and Sweep document it and the overview asks for it only indirectly. Advisory and assurance services isn't scored, because Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC and Anthesis are channel partners; we scored only software they license.

Sources. Every score comes from the vendor's own pages or help centre read on 7 and 8 October 2026, unless marked third-party. Where a vendor documents its approach but names no Australian scheme or framework, it is scored low rather than withheld. Where a vendor publishes nothing on a criterion, the score is withheld and the platform appears in the “also evaluated” table. NetNada's modern-slavery questionnaires and building-ratings support are confirmed by the company and not yet documented on a public page; the reasons say so.

What you need to know before choosing

You probably don't need to disclose on all 166 requirements

AASB S2 is implemented in NetNada as 166 individual controls across governance, strategy, risk management and metrics. The most common first-timer mistake is assuming every one applies. One Group 1 client only had to disclose on 42; another on about 80 in year one. A gap analysis that returns the page and paragraph where each requirement is met is worth more than another framework logo. (Lochie Burke, NetNada.) Climate Compliance Analyzer: AASB S2 gap analysis

Book the three-way meeting with your assurer first

Deloitte, Grant Thornton, RSM and EY each read AASB S2 slightly differently, so the first thing in a reporting year is a meeting between you, the platform team and the assurer to agree evidence expectations. One firm wants a photo of the chiller plate as refrigerant evidence. Workflows that store evidence against each data point, with who uploaded and who approved it, are what make that meeting short. (Lochie Burke, NetNada.) Audit trail and evidence management

Governance evidence assurers actually read

Auditors look at who answered the climate-risk questions and whether they were educated for the role. A minuted directors' lunch-and-learn counts as governance evidence; a risk-matrix description that does not match the matrix's own scoring is an auditor flag. Collaboration tooling matters here because it records who did what, not because it saves time. (Lochie Burke and Afonso Firmo, NetNada.) Team collaboration and user management

NGER and ASRS are different reports from the same data

NGER reporting uses AR5 global warming potentials in the National Greenhouse Accounts Factors and is lodged through the Clean Energy Regulator; AASB S2 points to the latest IPCC report. Only NetNada, Greenbase and Carbonly document producing the NGER output from the software; most ESG suites carry the NGER factor library but not the submission. If you are an NGER reporter, test that one inventory can feed both. (Afonso Firmo, NetNada.) NGER reporting tool

FAQ

What is the best ESG reporting software in Australia?
On our published rubric NetNada scores highest at 86 out of 100, followed by IBM Envizi (78.75), Carbonly (72.25) and Greenbase (Envago) (71.75). The suites win on global framework breadth; the Australian specialists win on ASRS, NGER and assurance depth.
Which ESG platforms support AASB S2 and ASRS natively?
NetNada, IBM Envizi, Greenbase, Carbonly, Trace and Sweep document AASB S2 or ASRS templates in the software. Microsoft ships ASRS Exposure Draft templates in preview. Salesforce, Diligent, Workiva, Greenly, Persefoni, ClimatePartner and Plan A document no AASB S2 template.
Which platforms produce NGER and NPI reports?
NetNada generates NGER submissions in OSCAR format; Greenbase produces lodgement-ready NGER reports and submits NPI online; Carbonly has an NGER compliance view; Clear Carbon has an NPI product. IBM Envizi and Microsoft carry NGER factor libraries without a submission tool.
Which ESG software handles modern slavery and supplier scorecards?
Avarni's supplier surveys can ask modern slavery status. NetNada's supplier portal takes custom questionnaires including modern slavery, confirmed by the company. Sweep, Watershed and Salesforce document supplier scorecards for carbon and, for Salesforce, social data. No vendor documents a Modern Slavery Act statement template.
Which have an auditor role?
IBM Envizi, Carbonly, Diligent ESG, Greenly, Salesforce (permission set) and Sweep (auditor access interface) name one. NetNada offers read-only auditor access on Enterprise and Greenbase gives auditors view-only or upload-only access. Avarni uses the Viewer role for auditors.
Do I need an ESG suite or a carbon platform?
If your mandate is AASB S2 plus NGER and your other ESG metrics are waste, energy and supplier data, a carbon-first platform with workflows covers it. If you also publish GRI, SASB or CSRD reports for overseas investors, the suites' framework mapping saves rework. Several teams run both: a suite for the narrative and a carbon platform as the audited emissions engine.
Does NetNada support NABERS, Green Star or LEED?
NetNada confirms support for NABERS, LEED, Green Star, BEEC and Tenancy Lighting Assessment ratings, and uses NABERS-published densities in its waste dashboard. This is not yet documented on a feature page, so it is not scored. IBM Envizi documents indicative NABERS office energy and water ratings; BraveGen documents NABERS, GRESB and Green Star reporting.
