NetNada was founded in 2021, in the wake of unprecedented bushfires. Sustainability was only becoming more important and we saw first hand how hard it was for companies to move it from a ‘nice to have’ to a ‘licence to operate’ as mandatory climate disclosure arrived.
NetNada was inspired by a vision to restore trust in corporate sustainability by enabling companies to improve their emissions, and prove them.
From emissions to climate reporting
We started by automating the hardest, most manual part: spend-based carbon calculations. From those early days to building the climate reporting operating system that businesses run on, our vision hasn't changed. Now more than ever, making decisions on data you can trust and audit is essential. Hundreds of companies rely on NetNada to build, maintain and demonstrate their sustainability disclosures.

Our journey so far
The beginning
Before NetNada, Lochie cofunded founded a Sydney-based airspace technology and running a charity in Kolkata called River Ranger. Afonso was teaching innovation at UNSW and running a sustainable e-commerce business. While teaching at UNSW, they realized businesses weren't failing because they didn't care—they were failing because their data was locked in silos.
The core idea
Afonso had been studying under Professor Tommy Wiedmann, a leader in MRIO data sets. We realized we could systemize emissions measurement by using a company's financial ledger as a map.
Proving the science
We received an MVP grant from the New South Wales government. The academic theory officially became a product.
Growth
The platform evolved to capture complex activity data. We raised our first round of investment to grow the engineering team.
From data to action
We expanded the platform to include work plans and task management. Carbon accounting became carbon action.
The NetNada Operating System
We launched the NetNada OS, including a version specifically for consultants and tools to manage compliance beyond just emissions. We partnered with energy providers and secured our second round of investment.
A global community
We are now the operating system for more than 100 businesses across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the US, with operations spanning 20+ countries.
