Task Management for Carbon Accounting

Your command centre for building complete carbon footprints. NetNada's Task Manager coordinates data collection across your organisation—tracking progress, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring nothing gets missed.

How It Works

The Emissions Tasks Manager serves as your centralised workspace for carbon inventory construction. Once you configure emission boundaries, the system generates specific data collection tasks for every scope, category, and facility—then tracks completion until your inventory is complete.

1

Automatic Task Generation

After configuring Emission Boundaries, the Task Manager populates automatically. Each configured emission source creates a corresponding task specifying what data is needed, from which facility, for which reporting period.

2

Monitor Overall Progress

Two key metrics guide your efforts: Assignment Progress (percentage of tasks assigned to team members) and Inventory Progress (completion status showing Completed, In Progress, and Skipped tasks as percentages).

3

Filter and Find Tasks

Search for specific data requirements. Filter by Category (Scope), Node (facility), or Status (Pending, In Progress, Complete). Use Reset Filters to clear applied filters and see all tasks.

4

Delegate Responsibilities

Click the Assignee column to designate team members for each task. The right person—whether facilities manager, finance analyst, or operations lead—receives clear responsibility for specific data.

5

Track Completion

As team members upload data through Carbon Data Uploader or direct submission, task statuses update automatically. Monitor progress toward complete inventory coverage.

Why Use Task Management for Carbon Accounting

Nothing Gets Missed

Automatic task generation from emission boundaries ensures every configured source has a corresponding data collection task. No more discovering gaps at reporting time.

Clear Accountability

Assign tasks to specific team members. Everyone knows exactly what data they're responsible for collecting. No ambiguity, no duplication of effort.

Progress Visibility

Track inventory completion in real-time. See at a glance whether you're on track for reporting deadlines. Identify bottlenecks before they become problems.

Distributed Data Collection

Facilities managers know their utility data. Finance knows spend data. Operations knows fleet data. Task Manager routes requests to the right people with the right knowledge.

Automatic Status Updates

When data is uploaded successfully, related tasks update automatically. No manual status tracking—the system knows when data arrives.

Consistent Year-Over-Year Process

Each reporting period follows the same structured approach. Tasks regenerate for new periods, ensuring consistent coverage and methodology across years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Task Management for Carbon Accounting

How are tasks generated?
Tasks generate automatically from your Emission Boundaries configuration. Each emission source you define (e.g., Scope 1 natural gas at Facility A) creates a corresponding data collection task. You can also create tasks manually for unique requirements.
Can I assign tasks to people outside the platform?
Assignees need NetNada user accounts. Invite team members through Admin > Invites to grant them access. Once invited, they'll see only tasks assigned to them and can upload data directly.
How do task statuses update?
When data is uploaded via Carbon Data Uploader and linked to a task, the status updates automatically to 'In Progress' or 'Complete' based on data completeness. You can also manually update statuses through the Actions menu.
What if I need to skip a task?
Use the Actions menu to mark tasks as 'Skipped'. This is appropriate for emission sources that don't apply to a specific reporting period (e.g., no business travel during COVID). Skipped tasks are documented for audit trail purposes.
Can I see tasks across all my facilities?
Yes. The default view shows all tasks across your organisation. Use the Node filter to focus on specific facilities. Use the Category filter to focus on specific scopes. Combine filters for precise views.
What happens at the start of a new reporting period?
Tasks regenerate for each new reporting period based on your emission boundaries. Your boundary configuration carries forward, creating consistent task structures year over year. Previous period data and completion history remain accessible.
How do I prioritise which tasks to complete first?
Start with Scope 1 (usually smallest data volume), then Scope 2 (energy data), then Scope 3 (most complex). Within each scope, prioritise tasks for high-emission sources. The Assignment Progress card helps ensure responsibilities are distributed before collection begins.
Can consultants see my Task Manager?
If you've connected an advisor through the Advisor Portal, they can access your Task Manager to monitor progress, upload data on your behalf, and help coordinate collection. You control advisor access through invite codes.
